What are the default controller buttons?

Shacknews and Dot Esports list the default layout below. You can remap any binding under Settings, then Controls. Steam lists full controller support for the PC version, and the game is Steam Deck Verified with its default controller layout.

How do you use manual with clutch on a controller?

Why bother? Manual and Manual with Clutch add a payout multiplier and give you control of the power band, which matters for drifting and drag launches. Plain Manual is a good stepping stone. See the drift guide for clutch kicks.

1. In the Settings menu, find the Shifting option among the assists and set it to Manual with Clutch.
2. Bind shift down, since it is unbound by default.
3. Consider moving the clutch to A (or X on PlayStation pads) so you can press clutch and shift in one motion, as one guide suggests.
4. Set Clutch Axis Deadzone Inside to 9 and Outside to 100, Dot Esports' recommendation, to filter accidental light presses.

What are good controller deadzone settings?

• Inside deadzones: 0 to 5 for steering, throttle and brake as a starting point.
• Outside deadzones: 100.
• Steering linearity: 50.
• Clutch axis: inside 9, outside 100.
• Change one value at a time and test the same corner.

Why does my PC controller keep switching to keyboard?

This is a widely reported Forza Horizon 6 PC issue. In the Steam discussion thread, one user found that disabling Steam Input made the controller undetectable while enabling it caused the switching. Others report the pad working in menus but not while driving.

1. Plug the controller into a different USB port. Several users in the Steam thread said this fixed it instantly.
2. Unplug other input devices: wheels, pedals, HOTAS and rudder pedals can all confuse detection. One player fixed it by unplugging flight-sim rudder pedals.
3. For PlayStation controllers on Steam, adjust Steam's controller settings (one fix enabled the Steam Direct option under advanced controller settings).
4. Reboot if the controller shows as connected but inputs do nothing.
5. If you use DS4Windows, enable its Hide DS4 Controller option so the game does not see two pads.
6. Check for a stuck key or a faulty mouse sending inputs.

Can you use a PS5 controller on PC?

Yes, through Steam Input or Windows controller support, but PlayStation pads appear in several of the input-switching reports above. If the game does not see it at all, try the Steam Direct setting or DS4Windows with Hide DS4 Controller enabled. On PS5 itself the DualSense works natively from January 26, 2027; see the PS5 page.

Using a wheel instead

If you switch to a wheel, turn wheel steering off again when you go back to a controller; Forza Horizon 5 players found inputs ignored when wheel steering stayed enabled without a wheel connected. Wheel setup is on the Logitech G29 settings page.
