Where are Forza Horizon 6 save files on PC?

Quickest way in: press Windows + R, paste the path and press Enter. On Steam, open the subfolder that starts with User_. On the Xbox app, if the exact path differs, open %SystemDrive%\XboxGames\GameSave\ and look inside pgs for the matching container; folder names vary with your profile, drive and installed version.

Some sites list generic paths such as Steam\userdata\<SteamID>\<AppID>\remote or a Packages\...\wgs folder. Those look like templates rather than Forza Horizon 6's real locations; use the paths above.

Is the local file your real save?

No. Progress is tied to your Microsoft account and synced in the cloud, which is what makes cross-save between Xbox, Steam and, from January 2027, PS5 possible. Allthings.how describes the local folder as a cache and backup, with the cloud copy as the master save.

The two PC versions' files are not interchangeable: they use different folder structures and account systems, so dragging files between them can break a save. The supported way to move between Steam and the Xbox app is simply to sign in with the same Microsoft account; see the crossplay page.

How do you back up your save?

1. Close Forza Horizon 6 completely.
2. Open the save folder for your version.
3. Copy the whole user folder, not individual files.
4. Paste it to another drive or your Documents folder, with the date in the folder name.
5. On Steam, also back up C:\XboxGames\GameSave if it exists: Sportskeeda notes that the Steam version still connects to the Xbox app on PC.

Can you reset your Forza Horizon 6 save?

Not reliably by deleting local files, because the cloud copy is the master save. No source we checked documents an official in-game option to wipe progress, so a clean restart is still to be confirmed. Contact Forza Support before deleting anything if you want a fresh start, and keep a backup either way.

Should you download a 100% save file?

No. Third-party 100% saves are modified files. Replacing your save with one is exactly the kind of save editing that guides on Forza's enforcement list as the highest ban risk, because progress is validated against Microsoft's servers.
