Forza Horizon 6 Developer Statement: What Playground Said
On this page
What did Playground Games say?
The studio posted a short message on X addressed to the Horizon Community. VGC and Dot Esports quote it as saying the team was reading all comments about Forza Horizon 6 and realised it had not been talking with players as much as it could be. It added that it had heard feedback about post-launch updates and was looking into future changes to both in-game content and the way it communicates.
The statement made no concrete commitments. Dot Esports notes it did not say what changes are being considered or when they might arrive.
Why were players unhappy?
Forza Horizon 6 launched to very strong reviews, including a Metacritic score of 90, but the post-launch mood soured over the summer. VICE and Dot Esports summarise the main complaints:
- Very little communication from the studio between updates.
- Monthly Festival Playlist series that bring back older cars under the guise of something new.
- Repetitive late-game content that gets boring quickly.
- Uncertainty over the PS5 version, promised for later in 2026.

What has changed since the statement?
Two days later, Playground published a detailed post confirming the PS5 date, the first Premium Expansion and a free content update for all players alongside them. It also announced the next series, themed around City Life, with two permanent Tokyo race routes and three new-to-Horizon playlist cars. Dot Esports points out that Horizon Meets and City Life were planned before the statement, so they are not a response to it.
On user-generated content, Playground separately revised its enforcement after the itasha ban reports, adding warnings and shorter first suspensions. See the itasha guide.
Who is making Forza Horizon 6 now?
Playground Games developed Forza Horizon 6 and Xbox Game Studios publishes it. In September 2026, Microsoft announced that Playground and Turn 10 would merge into one studio working on Forza and Fable. The PS5 version is built by Panic Button in collaboration with Playground and Turn 10, per Forza.net.
